ORIGINAL Zombies fans, as well as those converted to the band's music by their recent successful revival, are in for a treat when lead singer Colin Blunstone plays Devizes on November 25.
This solo tour follows Colin's outing at the head of the Zombies, performing their seminal album Odessey and Oracle with the band’s original line-up playing the album in full together, which culminated in a breathtaking show at The London Palladium in September.
Colin has always held a commanding presence centre stage, standing at an elegant six foot tall. Fifty years after first taking to the stage, his voice still holds the same exceptional range and peaks at a falsetto, with a smooth cadence. He holds his own place in British musical heritage as a rare and unique singer, whose voice has effortlessly stood the test of time
The tour, backed by his own band, will see him performing a popular mix of Zombies favourites and a diverse selection of his own material from the intervening years.
His solo career began after the The Zombies split in 1967, with the album One Year, from which the hit single Say You Don’t Mind was taken. Two more albums followed before he headed off for a spell living in America, where he continued to write and record.
Those two young to remember The Zombies probably know him best for his collaboration with Dave Stewart on the huge hit version of What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted, followed by further hits with Smokey Robinson’s Tracks Of My Tears and The Alan Parson’s Project’s Old And Wise.
After more solo studio work, Colin decided the time was right to play live again and was joined by fellow Zombies founder member, Rod Argent. Together, they have recorded a further four studio albums along with a selection of live albums/ DVD’s and Odessey And Oracle’ (Revisited).
Colin has released two further solo albums and is currently working on a third, planned for release in 2018.
The tour, which began last week, comes to the Long Street Blues Club in Devizes on November 25.
