RUMOURS which have been sweeping the Wiltshire music scene are confirmed today: the UK’s most prominent underground singer-songwriter will return to Swindon to perform at Level III on January 20, 2018.

Wiltshire promoter Kieran Moore's Sheer Music are hosting the gig, and Kieran is delighted to be bringing voice-of-a-generation Turner back to a local audience.

In keeping with Turner's grassroots heritage, one of the support acts will be Devizes musician Mike Barham.

Singer/songwriter and indie act Mike, who released his debut EP Altitude with Attitude earlier this year, plays numerous gigs locally.

Kieran, who moved his operation to Trowbridge from Devizes last year, said: "Obviously I'm delighted to have Frank back, who seems to be at the peak of his powers!

"Having done over 2,000 gigs in such a short space of time is an incredible achievement, and he distinctly remembers where he came from - the UK underground, roots circuit, which is Sheer Music in a nutshell.

"Frank made his name performing hundreds of shows in 200-capacity venues up and down the country, including a number of Swindon performances, before migrating to theatres, festivals and stadiums across the UK, and around the world.

"One of the most notable early shows was at the celebrated Victoria venue in Swindon, which was recorded by then landlord, David Young. This recording made its way to Frank’s label, and was subsequently released when the label re-issued a 10 year anniversary deluxe version of his debut album Sleep is for The Week last year.

"We can finally bring this belated solo show to Swindon, back to the very venue where Sheer Music first met Frank in 2003 when he was performing with Million Dead."

Second support spot goes to Sean McGowan, the Southampton-based act who's also a Sheer Music regular, having last appeared at their 2015 Christmas show.

Ticket for the solo show at the Commercial Road venue go on sale on Friday, December 1, at 10am sharp, only from www.wegottickets.com, price £25.
