One of the latest BBC Introducing stars, Sharon Lazibyrd, was inspired by pop star P J Harvey.

Sharon is from Martok, Somerset and although PJ Harvey grew up in Dorset, where she was tutored in music by folk giant Steve Knightley, she attended Yeovil College. So Sharon feels she is a local artist and says she would love to work with such an innovative artist.

Sharon is already following in her heroine's footsteps as both singers have performed at the famous Glastonbury Festival.

The multi-instrumentalist was chosen as the BBC Introducing Artist of the Week on BBC Georgey Tonight show. The singer was also included on the BBC Introducing Mixtape on BBC 6 Music. The chosen track was Blood On Bone taken from her debut album, Half Shame Half Glory, which she is currently working on. The song also featured musicians Damian Clarke, Damon Bridge and Tom Cory and was recorded at Orchard Recording Studios.

In 2013 Sharon won the South West Music Awards best folk act but her start in songwriting came quite by accident when her sister bought her a ukulele as a birthday present.

Sharon is the special guest at this month's Lazy Sunday acoustic and roots music gig in Swindon, hosted by Mr Love & Justice.

Leader of the folk rock collective, Steve Cox, said: "Sharon is a talented, original and award-winning singer/songwriter who writes striking and melodic songs. She has recorded a session for Bob Harris and was invited to take part in a BBC Introducing residential.''

Lazy Sunday takes place at Savernake Street Community Centre in Old Town on Sunday, April 15 from 3pm.

Also on the bill is local girl Sarah C Ryan and Steve said: "Sarah is an acoustic singer-songwriter starting to make waves in the local music scene, she is making her first appearance at Lazy Sunday.''

Steve and Mrs Love & Justice will also be playing their West Coast 1960s pop/folk style of music.
