Dogs take the lead at their own festival this weekend when their owners are invited to enjoy a musical feast featuring the Kaiser Chiefs, Jessie J and The Vamps.

The artists are headlining Petlife Festival ‘18, a one day, dog-friendly event at Cheltenham Racecourse on Sunday, May 6 to mark the 100th anniversary of the PDSA.

All dog lovers are welcome to bring their best friends along too.

Ricky Wilson, lead singer with the Kaiser Chiefs and owner of Labradoodle called Norman Reedus, said: “Two things the UK loves are pets and music, so why has no one thought of this before? We’re all looking forward to PDSA PetLife’18 and raising funds and awareness for PDSA to continue its great work.”

The PDSA helps provide life-saving veterinary care for 470,000 sick and injured animals each year. Jan McLoughlin, PDSA Director General, said: “Since we were founded 100 years ago, the world has changed so much. Yet we remain a lifeline for hundreds of thousands of the UK’s most vulnerable pets. The money we raise from events like this, alongside all of our other fundraising and awareness activity, will help ensure we can be here for vulnerable pets for the next 100 years.’’

As well as the live music line-up, visitors can explore performance arena for pet displays and professional demonstrations, pet wellbeing zones, 2km and 5km walking routes, farmer’s market and dog training. The Paddock is the place to get up close and personal to some amazing animals, children can enjoy the play spaces, and there are food and shopping areas.

Jessie J who had a huge hit with Price Tag will be singing songs from her new album, R.O.S.E. Three times Britt award winners the Kaiser Chiefs will be rocking the festival with a set including their hits Ruby and I Predict a Riot, while The Vamps will have all the young hearts a-flutter with their chart busting pop tunes Can We Dance, Wild Heart and Last Night.

There will be the first ever public presentation of the PDSA Gold Medal – the animals’ George Cross – to a courageous police dog. Younger visitors have the chance to join PAW Patrol pups from the popular children's TV series, including Police Dog Chase and Fire Dog Marshall, in the Pup Pup Boogie and Rubble’s Rock ‘n’ Roll.

There are some tasty treats for the dogs too as Lily’s Kitchen Doggy Diner serves up naturally nourishing food.

Doors open at 11am. Tickets for the festival are on sale now and are from www.petlife.org.uk - Flicky Harrison
