Are you ready for something BIG? in Swindon

Are you ready for something BIG? Are you ready for something BIG?

Big Arts Day takes place at Lydiard Park on Saturday, and is set to attract thousands of people.

Six music stages offer endless amounts of local talent, with everything from jazz, punk, ska and rock to samba, indie, rockabilly and more.

Headlining the main stage are Big Weekend Records, featuring AJ and friends, as well as Josh Kumra, known for his number one hit with Wretch 32, Don’t Go.

There will also be a drama zone, a dance zone, a literature zone, food stalls, charity stalls, a chill out zone, and a specially commissioned Jubilee exhibition tent.

Children can watch out for Tiny the Dinosaur, a life-like Stegosaurus, or have a 1930s-style seaside snapshot taken with three puppets who have jumped out of their sepia photograph.

There will be dry-land synchronised swimming, grannies on revved-up shopping trolleys, giant lobsters and interactive love machines – all in one day.

For details on the Big Arts Day and the full line-up, visit www.bigartsday.co.uk.

the previous article mentions that parking will not be available, but this on doesn't, which just adds to the confusion

I was up there this morning and I walked around with the dog as I do every day and on the grass, it was like walking on a wet sponge. It will turn Lydiard into a mud bath and after the lorries have been on to recover tentage etc, it wont be recognisable as grass! If they allow car parking they will need a lot of tractors to recover them.

I want the day to be a success as does everyone (I have a charity stall) but in reality, with the poor weather and no public parking on site or anywhere in the surrounding area turnout is going to be significantly reduced. It's such a shame.

I wanted to go but couldn't as there was no parking. Why didn't they utilise the Wroughton park and ride with a shuttle bus? I hope it went well but they made it as difficult for people as possible to get there.
