LONELY THE BRAVE A Day’s War
In an age dominated by image and hype, Lonely The Brave’s honest, heartfelt brand of no-frills rock is refreshing. A Day’s War, which has been four years in the making, demonstrates why the Cambridgeshire quintet are being tipped for big things. After an atmospheric guitar intro sets the mood, Trick Of The Light crashes in with an energy and passion that never relents over the course of an album that is as solid as it is inspiring. There isn’t a single weak track. Victory Line and current single Backroads are rousing stadium-filling anthems, while the stripped back Dinosaurs and the title track reveal a more delicate side. On Deserter, David Jakes’s wonderful, gravelly baritone is heartbreaking and then stirring, all in the space of three glorious minutes. A majestic debut.
9/10 – Daren Francis
