MUMFORD AND SONS - WILDER MIND
Wilder Mind, the third album from Marcus Mumford, Winston Marshall, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane, represents a significant departure from the well-established and sometimes polarising Mumford And Sons sound as production work from James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco sees electric guitars, synthesisers and even drum machines come to the fore. The banjo-free result is far more of an arena rock album, compared to the band's banjo-heavy folk origins - and you know what? It suits them. The quartet's barnstorming second single The Wolf is destined to become a focal point of live shows for years to come, while Broad-Shouldered Beasts is another stand-out. Monster offers the clearest link to the Mumford of old.
