Block Helicopters & Planes, by Josh Kumra, out on RCA from July 9.

Last summer Swindon singer/songwriter, Josh Kumra, shot to number one in the UK charts with Don't Go, Wretch 32's hit. Josh was featured on the single and also co-wrote it. This summer Josh has released his own single, Helicopters & Planes, which is a powerful album where the imagery is beautiful, the lyrics pure poetry and the tune powerfully hypnotic.

Tribal drums give an underlying rock beat to the song with Josh's soulful voice soaring across the orchestral strings.

Josh has joined the ranks of the hip hop soul genre yet the originality of his writing gives him a much wider appeal. Helicopters & Planes could easily be the title track of a blockbuster movie or a club classic.

His songs always tell a story and this one is no different, uncovering the darkness that can envelope even the most cheerful spirit. He sings of shadows growing in the blackness, strange dreams and 'Never trusting a wizard'' while a sharp rap solo from K Koke tells of living life for the moment because we never know when the magic is going to fail.

Since performing in the pubs of Swindon Josh's music has grown in maturity and depth. If this is a sample of Josh now I can not wait for the album release in the autumn.
