When I was young and able and as strong as a horse
I'd cycle anywhere and everywhere no cars about then of course
I cycled everywhere with my daughter on the back seat of my bicycle
Shopping for my grocery balancing bags on the handlebars of my tricycle
I cycled once to Bath there and back with Audrey my dear friend
Then Wootton Bassett with my daughter to a fair it was then the trend
Cycling was the way of life or one would catch a bus or walk
It was much friendlier in those days people would find time to talk
But times have changed because of the car it became no more pleasure
Cycling then was our cheapest transport it was then our treasure
But bikes are so different now to ride to cock ones leg over the bar
Without crashing to the ground I'd love to cycle far
But the car has changed our lives in a lot of different ways
Maybe for some but for my time of life they are here to stay.
