THE all-male dance company BalletBoyz returned to Swindon on Friday and delighted the audience with their thought provoking latest production called Life.

I can't pretend that I understood exactly what was going on when i watched this performance, which received its world premiere at London's Sadler's Wells in April, but it was certainly engaging and the movements of the performers were faultless.

The show, which features new commissions by Javier de Frutos and Pontus Lidberg, was in two parts and felt like it was all over very quickly but when you see the amount of energy that is put into the dance moves by these ten amazing dancers - you understand why the production finished at 9pm. The sheer strength of each and every one of them is simply amazing and I was in awe of how they made every move look so effortless.

The evening's performance featured an original score which provoked all kinds of emotions from the crowd - laughter one minute to stunned silence the next.

Life was co-produced by Sadler's Wells in association with artsdepot and even though it is not the sort of production I usually go to, I can see why and how the BalletBoyz have gone on to amass quite a loyal following these days.

The current line up features Jordan Robson, Harry Price, Marc Galvez, Simone Donati, Matthew Rees, Edward Pearce, Matthew Sandiford, Flavien Esmieu and Bradley Waller. And to say they are totally in tune with each other when on the stage together would be an understatement. They flowed together like a stream.

This piece was elegant, humorous and deep and when they next come back to the town, I would be intrigued enough to see what they come up with next.

You did good boyz.
