AS usual it is the end of the working week that provides the new and original music but there is certainly something for everyone as we head into the weekend proper.

Tonight at The Victoria, Songs of Praise offer up some interesting indie sounds. Opening the show is Luckless, a solo artist who ticks enough on-trend boxes as to make her cooler than the other side of the pillow.

Originally from New Zealand, based in Berlin and pushing a musical agenda of raw, guitar soundscaping that references the likes of PJ Harvey, Sparklehorse and Warpaint. How cool is that?

Also on the bill you will find local indie kids Horizon playing their last gig before announcing major changes within their ranks.

At The Beehive, The Foregate Street Blues Band will be bringing back the blues the way it used to be. Guitars and harmonicas blend together to make smooth, acoustic driven old time sounds both standards and originals.

Friday also has some original treats on offer, this time at Level III when Bath indie-folk rockers Bare Knuckle Parade bring their self-styled ‘sing until your jaw is broken’ drinking songs and incendiary live show to town.

Support comes from the country-core anthems of locals Raze*Rebuild and the dark and desolate Americana of Monkfish.

Seeing the name Rob Beckinsale in a band's line up has become an assurance of quality... and often strange, boundary shifting, genre warping music. You can find him at The Beehive as part of the brilliantly named Truckstop Lizard, a country rock band who pack in a whole lot of sass, swing and southern fried groove.

And sass and swing are also on the cards up at The Victoria with the beat, boogie and bluesy rock and roll of The Teddy White Band.

After that the options switch to the cover and tribute side of the fence but there is certainly something for everyone. Vice Versa can be found at The Rolleston delivering a blistering set of indie classics and if you want a change from guitar bands Bleep Machines will be playing tribute to the 80’s synth-pop movement at The Tawny Owl.

Rock is on the menu for Saturday, firstly with Shepherds Pie at The Rolleston. Probably the best-known rock and metal covers band on the local circuit they manage to deliver classic tunes with all the power and verve that made you fall in love with them in the first place. Rorke’s Drift layout a similar stall at The Locomotive.

Those of a more Indie persuasion might prefer to don the parkas and Fred Perry’s and catch The Brit Pop Boys at The Windmill or perhaps head down to Level III for a bit of Kazabian. They may be named after a follower of Charles Manson but you can’t hold that against them.

A more general spread of pop and rock can be found at The Castle with The Cover Up but if you want to relive the heady days of 70’s glam pop, then Abba Sensation at The Victoria will deliver all the necessary eurodisco soundtrack.

Sunday sees The Illegal Eagles at The Wyvern Theatre. As the name suggests they are a tribute to west coast country rock sensations The Eagles and pack their show with faithful renditions of their melodic, easy listening classics.

And finally on Wednesday, global troubadour and musical traveller Darren Martin can be found at The Rolleston.

Dexterously picked tunes and eloquent narratives are the order of the day and the perfect way to break up the week.
