Clair Gallie wasn't let down when eighties star Rick Astley headlined Westonbirt on Saturday night.

EIGHTIES pop icon, Rick Astley took to the stage as part of the new summer Forest Live 2017 series, and he certainly wasn't going to ' give it up' and most certainly not 'let the crowd down' on Saturday night at Westonbirt Arboretum.

More than 7,000 fans cheered and sang along, whilst this English singer songwriter belted out his latest hits from his remarkable comeback album, 50, interspersing with his feel good classics, such as Together Forever .

An energetic performance, Rick, proved he's still got it, even after thirty years since he first topped the charts. Sharply dressed, with a powerful live, singing voice whilst looking much younger than his 51 years, he got the crowd involved, who had much fun singing along with him. He even took the time to talk, reminisce and thank the people for their support in making his comeback album such a success.

With a good stage presence, Rick wowed the crowd of diehard fans, ending the show with his crowd pleasing greatest hits.

It is worth noting, warm up artist, Rumer, gave her usual strong passionate performance with her wonderful melodic voice.

On a personal note, the concert was incredibly organised from the parking, getting through the ticket gates, with a good security presence. There were plenty of clean toilets and a great choice of food and drink options if you hadn't like the majority brought a picnic.

All in all, an enjoyable evening, in exceptional surroundings, listening to one of the most endearing musical legends of the 80s.

Oh, and the weather wasn't too shabby either!
