WORK is well underway to bring together a huge festival in Old Town – and it has only been possible thanks to input from the community.

This is the view of organisers of the Little Big Festival, which will see numerous activities taking place between April and November designed to showcase the talents of the people in the town.

Inspiration for the event, now in its second year, came from New York.

Josie Williams, the Community Arts Development Officer and one of the organisers, thanked people for helping to bring the event together.

She said: “I am a gardener of people. I plant the seeds and watch as they grow and blossom. I am a firm believer that ability follows enthusiasm.

“It is all about empowering people and giving them the opportunity to grow and develop. It is fantastic that everyone, like fellow organiser Caroline Day, is embracing the whole ethos of what the festival is about.

“It is all about showcasing local people through lots of small activities to make up the bigger festival.”

The official launch will take place on April 27 at the Old Town Gardens, the home of festival. There will be a host of family activities as well as displays from local artists and musicians.
