THE much loved tale of The Gruffalo will be brought to life at the Wyvern Theatre this weekend.

A stage version of the award-winning picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, performed by Tall Stories, will be in Swindon from tomorrow until Sunday.

The Gruffalo tells the story of a mouse who scares hungry animals away with tall stories of a terrifying Gruffalo, but what happens when he comes face to face with the very creature he imagined?

Director Olivia Jacobs said the show, which was first performed in 2001, offers something for everyone.

“Sometimes I sit at the back of the theatre, and there is nothing nicer than hearing a dad saying to a mum ‘I really enjoyed that’. They imagined it might be an hour where they could have a sleep but actually, thankfully, so far we have had good reports from all ages,” she said.

The Gruffalo includes plenty of songs, laughs and fun for children aged 3+ and their grown-ups.

The show has toured Britain and the world.
