THERE will be something for everyone when A Handful of Songs is performed at Swindon Arts Centre.

The show, from Ray Dance and Judith Sharp, is a compilation of songs from pop, standards, musicals, operetta and opera.

Ray and Judith will be joined on stage by Russell Langdown, Katherine Sharp, Sarah Greenwood and Tony Asprey.

They will be performing a wide range of music from The Great American Song Book, Les Miserables, Cabaret, Spamalot, Wicked and pop favourites.

A Handful of Songs will also showcase students from Gemma Short’s School of Dance and Theatre Arts, some of whom have appeared recently in West End Shows.

Judith, whose first taste of the theatre was as a 15-year-old treading the boards in amateur dramatics in the Lake District, is a well known face on the Swindon stage, having performed alongside Ray, business partner and co-founder of R and J Musicals, for 30 years.

Each performance has a chosen charity and in their 30 years, Ray and Judith have raised more than £90,000.

This year the money will go to the Goldenhar Family Support Group.

The money raised from A Handful Of Songs will be added to profits from the full musical production of White Christmas, which Ray and Judith are staging at the Arts Centre from December 10 to December 14 this year.

Judith said: “We chose this charity because we are aware of this condition through our friend Alan Holmes, whose grandson Morgan is affected.’’ Goldenhar Syndrome is an umbrella term for a wide range of bone abnormalities affecting the face and sometimes the vertebrae.

Alan Holmes said: “The Goldenhar Family Support Group are so pleased that Ray and Judith have chosen Goldenhar as their charity this year. SALOS supported us last year at the Festival Of Christmas where Morgan sang with the choir.’’ A Handful of Songs runs from Thursday, July 3 to Saturday, July 5 at the Arts Centre, Devizes Road, Old Town, Swindon at 7.30pm. There is also a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets are £9 (£8 concessions) from 01672 861654.
