Nomad Theatre Company will be toting their drama guns, when they visit Swindon, to out-ride and out-shoot the villains in Shakespeare’s greatest plays.

The pioneering theatre company, from Bristol, are offering a work shop, followed by a performance entitled Mad, Bad and Downright Ugly, at Swindon’s New College, on Thursday, July 24.

The unique theatrical experience is open to young people aged 16 plus. It offers the chance to come face to face with a scheming Lady Macbeth, or to overhear the machinations of a malicious Iago, as the actors take a sideways look at the baddies of the Bard.

The theatre company’s Natasha Harp Smith, said: “We are a physical theatre group which looks at classical writing but with a real twist. Using our own bluegrass music and a company of actor/musicians we set out to give audiences a new perspective on some of our favourite stories.’’

“We’d like to invite young people to join us for an afternoon exploring physical theatre. They will also get a chance to have a discussion with some of our actors.’’

The workshop is followed by a performance at 7.30pm in the Phoenix Theatre. Workshop and show tickets are £12 and evening performance alone are £10 and £8 concessions from matthew.clift@newcollege.ac.uk or on the door. - Flicky Harrison
