MUSTANG Sally, Try a Little Tenderness and In the Midnight Hour are just some of the hits the Wyvern audience will be singing along to when The Stars from the Commitments take to the stage.

The nine-piece soul band from Dublin, which features within its ranks some original cast members from the Commitments film, will be performing all the hits from the multi-million selling soundtrack album of the film on October 3.

Ken McCluskey, who played Derek ‘The Meatman’ Scully in the film, said: “If people said in 20 odd years you will still be playing these songs I would have laughed.

“I had no idea at 24 years old. You think two or three months is a long time at that age. A year seems a lifetime and 20 years is just unimaginable.

“It’s been a great journey, even more so now. When anyone gets a bit older your purpose in life changes and you cherish things you enjoy.

“I just love getting up and playing music and performing.”

There will be a raffle on the night to raise funds for the Swindon mayor’s chosen charities, Goldenhar Family Support Group and Prospect Hospice. Prizes will include signed merchandise from the Stars from the Commitments.

The show is at 7.30pm on October 3. For tickets, which are £20.50, call 01793 524481 or visit swindontheatres.co.uk.
