AFTER more than a decade in Britain, the self-styled German comedy ambassador Henning Wehn has ‘groan’ to like puns – although he still couldn’t eat a whole one.

As Wehn’s assimilation is not yet complete he hasn’t lost his sense of Westphalian wonderment at the foibles of British society.

Why does everybody want to be owned by a house? What’s wrong with having the Euro?

And why hold society and government responsible for personal underachievement? You’ve only got yourself to blame for not being born into a better social class.

All these and more will be answered in Henning’s sell-out show, called Eins, Zwei, DIY, at the Wyvern on Saturday.

Henning was born in Hagen in West Germany in 1974 and moved to the UK in 2002 to work in the marketing department of Wycombe Wanderers FC.

One evening he saw an open mic night and decided to comedy a shot – and hasn’t looked back since. He began his career as warm-up act to comedians such as Stewart Lee.

Henning, 40, has since appeared on the panel shows 8 Out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News For You, Room 101 and QI.

He is a panellist on the BBC Radio Five Live comedy sports show Fighting Talk and on the BBC Radio Four panel game The Unbelievable Truth. He is also known for his own six-part series on BBC Radio 2, Henning Knows Best.

Saturday’s show is sold out but Henning has booked another date at the Wyvern on February 20, 2015.
