MARION SAUVEBOIS catches up with Maid Marian 10 years on

AFTER defeating the sheriff of Nottingham, Robin Hood and his beloved Marian lived happily after – or so we were wrongly led to believe.

Ha Ha Hood! And The Prince of Leaves, the latest laugh-out-loud production from the Ha Ha! team, will set the record straight when it opens at the Wyvern Theatre on Saturday..

Set 10 years after a messy divorce, Robin and Marian are forced back together to fight their nemesis once more. Marian, played by Su Pollard (pictured), is far from the innocent love interest she once was and has grown into a world-weary divorcee – more matron than maid.

“This is EastEnders in Sherwood Forrest,” said the comedy icon, most famous for hit BBC sitcom Hi-de-Hi.

“It makes a nice change to have a twist on the characters of folklore. It’s so much fun.

“Sometimes little things go astray and we forget to bring props on stage but it’s quite fun and we just go with the flow. And the audience are involved and join in.”

Ben Langley, who plays Robin and wrote the script, added: “This is the tale of what happens after the story we all know and love. It puts a spin on everything. Robin fell on hard times and Marian is an NHS nurse and when the sheriff is released from prison they rise up against him with hilarious consequences.”

Ha Ha Hood! And The Prince of Leaves starts at 7.30pm on Saturday. Tickets cost £21.
