PANTOMIME is in Lucy Kane’s blood – her parents, Linda Lusardi and Sam Kane, met in pantomime, and ever since she can remember, she has been backstage, in the audience and on stage with them over the festive period.
Now the 18-year-old is playing the part of Alice Fitzwarren in the Wyvern Theatre’s production of Dick Whittington, which runs at the theatre until January 4.
It will be the first time Lucy has performed in pantomime without her parents.
“My parents met in pantomime and have done pantomime every single year. I have been on every side of it – backstage, in the audience and on stage. Pantomime is in my blood completely,” she said.
“It was so lovely because pantomime has a family atmosphere.
“I am slightly anxious as I have never really moved away from them for that long before but we have sorted out how I am going to see them.”
Lucy, who will play Dick Whittington’s love interest, has been at stage school for the past six years and has performed in shows such as Annie, Cinderella and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Lucy’s parents have both previously performed in pantomime at the Wyvern, and Lucy said she has heard good things about the crowd.
“They said how brilliant the audience were and that Swindon is a really lovely place to perform. I am so excited,” she said.
