STAFF at a Swindon vets received an unusual feline visitor recently for his jabs.

The Wyvern Theatre’s pantomime cat Tommy, played by Barnaby Hughes, attended his first vaccination appointment at the Eastcott Vets hospital, in Dorcan Way, on Thursday.

After receiving his own personalised vaccination reminder through the post, Tommy was booked in for his health check with Veterinary Nurses Joanna Cheater and Louise Fowden.

Barnaby, who has recently graduated from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, can currently be seen on stage at the Wyvern Theatre alongside television star and panto baddie Nigel Havers.

The visit was part of the work the theatre, cast and Cats Protection are doing alongside the Adver to rehome a number of cats.

And Barnaby said he was delighted with the success of the appeal, which has seen around 140 cats find a new home.

“I’m thrilled with the number of rehomings so far, the project has surpassed all of our expectations and is a real testament to the hard work put in by Cats Protection, Wyvern Theatre and Swindon Advertiser,” he said.

Dick Whittington runs at the Wyvern Theatre until Sunday, January 4.
