ERUPTING on the stage in a burst of athleticism, arresting movements and incomparable physicality, Motionhouse’s latest show promises to bolster the company’s status at the avant-garde of dance and performance.
Its first major new theatre production since 2009, Broken, was created by artistic director Kevin Finnan MBE, the choreographer behind the London 2012 Paralympic Games opening ceremony.
It will come to the Wyvern Theatre on Tuesday, February 3, at 7.30pm. Combining physical prowess and gravity-defying dance overlaid with intricate digital imagery and original music, the production considers our precarious relationship with the earth and lures the audience into a world of shifting perspectives.
“As a company we continuously strive to innovate and evolve,” said Kevin, who founded Motionhouse in 1988 with Louise Richards.
“What we are really interesting in doing is creating a dance spectacle with visual imagery, that’s engaging and appealing in different ways.
“We continuously push things to another level. Over the last four shows, we have been gradually developing a relationship with film.
“Trying to bring different forms together is something we’re interested in.
“The company is going from strength to strength.”
Tickets cost £17.50 and £10.50 for students. To book call 01793 524481 or go to swindontheatres.co.uk.
