SAINT George was good at slaying dragons, but Lindsey Hall is taking on an even greater challenge of directing a dragon.

Lindsey is this year’s director of the Purton Amateur Dramatic Society’s production of King Arthur, the annual pantomime.

The panto runs from tonight until Saturday at Purton Village Hall from 7.30pm, with a licensed bar for refreshments. There is a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

King Arthur has been written by Chris Liversidge and stars Charla Clifford in the title role tackling her first show as principal boy.

Lindsey said: “The panto follows the tale of good King Arthur and his brave Knights of the Round Table. The evil Mordred, aided by his evil Mother, Morgana, and his (not so evil, well quite useless) henchmen Block & Tackle, plot to kidnap the beautiful Lady Guinevere.

“They hold her to ransom in a cave with a ferocious fire-breathing dragon. They are demanding Arthur’s magic sword Excalibur. The knights, aided by the magician Merlin, and led by the (not so) brave Sir Prancelot, set off to rescue her with hilarious results.’’ The panto has all the usual family fun with music, dancing, slapstick and comedy. Tickets are £7.50 for adults, £6 for seniors and £4 for children from 01793 771890.
