Dont miss Mark’s witty insights, says MARION SAUVEBOIS

COMBINING his award-winning wit with delightful insights, Mark Watson’s latest show Flaws will celebrate his and the rest of humanity’s insecurities and shortcomings.

Despite our lack of perfection and poor decision-making, we’re pretty spectacular. This, in a nutshell, is Watson’s philosophy.

He may not have all the answers to life’s most serious questions, but Flaws is sure to both humour and touch every generation of comedy fan.

His stand-up show at the Wyvern Theatre will be the ideal setting to look back at his life and reflect on growing up – including the terrifying ageing process, parenthood and the fear of passing ill-fated traits on to your children.

“In the show, I say that in my 20s I felt that it was fun to tell anecdotes about the different ways I’d screwed up,” he says.

“You’re allowed to be a shambles in your 20s. But it is sobering to realise that you’ve got no better as a 35-year-old and that if you don’t shape up, you’ll be a 50-year-old who has still not got to grips with the basic pillars of life.

“I have two children and a mortgage and still walk this strange tightrope between a seemingly respectable life and complete chaos!

“In Flaws, I try to improve myself and find role models to aspire to. My lack of confidence and self-esteem has powered my shows and my decisions in life.

“But if you look at the opposite, aggressively confident people, a lot of their qualities are loathsome.

“In correcting your flaws, you might actually move towards something even worse. Self-improvement is very difficult!”

One of the most celebrated comedians on the UK circuit, he won the Panel Prize at the 2006 If.comedie Awards and the Time Out Critics Choice Award in 2006.

Mark Watson will perform at the Wyvern Theatre on Wednesday, February 11 at 8pm.Tickets cost £17.
