'Dreamboats and Minis

'Dreamboats and Miniskirts' runs until Saturday, February 28

Wyvern Theatre

Swindon

Ever wondered what happened when the curtain came down on the 1950s and 1960s musical Dreamboats and Petticoats? Well, now is your chance! On the opening night of the truly sensational sequel at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre all was revealed.

A packed audience were transported back to 1963 where they got to see what happened to Bobby and Laura after their latest single flopped.

From the very start, the hits were belted out and sung to perfection. Every single cast member was a fine example of talent, never missing a beat and leaving the audience mesmerised.

The Merseyside sound was alive and kicking and the Beatles were on the cusp of being massive. But what was going to happen to the future of pop duo Bobby and Laura? Could they survive their friendship being tested due to lies? And were they ever going to be more than just friends?

Elizabeth Carter, who played the part of Laura, had a captivating voice and was an equally gifted actress and dancer. Similarly, Louise Olley, who played the part of Sue, stood out from the crowd with her powerful vocals.

The crowd got to enjoy so many 60s rock and roll hits, including 'I Only Want To Be With You', 'Do You Love Me' and 'You Really Got a Hold on Me'.

Everyone was clapping and singing along and the atmosphere of the entire theatre was uplifting and alive with appreciation.

The fact that many of the cast were also actually playing live instruments on the stage during the night made this show a five star production.

This really was a fine example of why, in this technological age, there is nothing quite like a live musical to get you feeling good.

Don’t miss this must see delight, it's the finest example of brilliant performers that you are likely to see.
