SOME familiar faces at a family fashion store in the town centre will be gracing our TV screens from next week.

PEP&CO which opened its new store on Regent Street last summer, is to share its story in a new six-part network prime-time ITV1 series, Bargain Shop Wars, which begins on Thursday.

The fashion chain shot to fame after it launched 50 stores in just over 50 days last summer, one of which was the town centre's very own. As part of the documentary series, viewers will get the chance to go behind the scenes and find out about this logistical challenge - while many viewers will be keeping their eyes peeled for staff they recognise.

It will also look at the challenges faced by the start-up and how other high street retailers reacted in the highly competitive discount fashion market.

Adrian Mountford, the firm's managing director, said he was looking forward to sharing PEP&CO with a wider audience. He said: “In just over 50 days, we took on the challenge of opening 50 stores last summer in Scotland, England and Wales – Britain’s fastest scale-from-scratch retail launch. Swindon was one of the select few locations to start our journey in as we felt it was the right place for us.

“We were delighted to throw open our doors to ITV, because we wanted the nation to have a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bring high quality, low price family fashion to some of the country’s most loved towns.”

The series begins on Thursday at 8.30pm on ITV 1.
