LEADING historian David Starkey will uncover the astonishingly dramatic, and gruesome, story of the Tudors in The King Is Dead next week, with some stomach-churning anecdotes to boot.

Known for his forthright views, the lecturer will delve into the period he describes as “the most glorious soap opera , with the whole future of countries turning on what these huge personalities felt like when they got out of bed in the morning.”

A Cambridge-educated grammar school boy, he went on to become a respected LSE lecturer. He is known for his stints as a fierce and often abrasive debater on Radio 4’s Moral Maze and controversial contributor to Question Time. He is the creator and presenter of many popular historical TV series on as Henry VIII , Elizabeth 1st, the Monarchy, the Churchills.

David Starkey comes to the Wyvern Theatre on Tuesday, April 26 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £16. To book visit swindontheatres.co.uk or call the box office on 01793 524481.
