THE Dashwood sisters have set generations of women up to fail in the romance department. No everyone gets their happy ending with a wealthy, charming and impeccably educated suitor.

But one can still dream. So why not join Elinor and Marianne as they make their first forays into the exquisite but complex world of 18th-century society in Jane’s Austen Sense and Sensibility at Lydiard Park tonight?

Adapted for the stage by Chapterhouse Theatre Company, it follows the siblings' trials and tribulations - as they navigate fraught courtships and endure their fair share of humiliation and heartbreak - and promises to bring Lydiard Park’s open air season to a glorious close.

Guests are invited to picnic under a starlit summer evening and lose themselves in the story of two young women on a quest to find the perfect balance of sense and sensibility.

Gates open at 6pm. The performance starts at 7pm. Tickets are £15.50 for adults and £11.50 for children and students.

Umbrellas are not allowed. Dogs are not permitted within the auditorium area.
