EMBARK on Odysseus’s arduous journey home in a new version of the timeless tale written and performed by Prime Youth Theatre.
Reimagined for a contemporary audience, The Odyssey is set in an alternative universe where war has destroyed modern technology.
Everyone has returned to a simpler life. With no guns, or artillery, soldiers’ weapon of choice is a hunting knife.
The story is one of pointless war, child soldiers, characters’ struggle to belong in the world and attempts or failure to take responsibility.
Told through the eyes of Penelope, Telemachus, Athena, Odysseus and his crew, this is an epic tale of loss, love and perseverance.
It is directed by Aaron Parsons as part of the troupe’s 30th anniversary celebration. The play runs from July 21 to 23 at the Swindon Arts Centre. Tickets are £12.50. To book call 01793 524 481 or visit swindontheatres.co.uk.
