An abstract piece of theatre showcasing the study of synchronicity and stamina is the latest work from award wining choreographer Rosie Kay.

Double Points will be performed at Swindon Dance on Friday, September 30 at 7.45pm.

Rosie Kay Dance Company has had a successful year including scooping the award for Best Independent Company at the Critics' Circle National Dance Awards and a tour of Scotland with her show 5 Soldiers: The Body Is The Frontline, which was nominated in the Best Modern Choreography category.

5 Soldiers is based on the training of soldiers for war and the impact both physical and mental of combat. To gain an insight into life in the forces, Rosie joined the 4th Battalion the Rifles for two weeks, to experience battle exercises taking place on Dartmoor and Salisbury Plain.

The dance film was featured on Radio 4s Today Programme and received the Time Out Critics Choice.

Rosie said: "The piece has a powerful physicality, moments of humour and is full of honesty, all inspired from serving and former soldiers.''

Rosie studied at the London Contemporary Dance School and has worked with Emio Greco and the late film director Anthony Minghella.

In 1999 Rose was awarded the title of Young Achiever of Scotland, she was presented with her prize by the Queen at Holyrood Palace.

In 2004 she formed the Rosie Kay Dance Company and since has spent time at Westminster with Members of Parliament and choreographed The Great Train Dance, a large scale, outdoor work based on a steam train.

Her dance company has won backing from the Arts Council England to tour with a new double bill of duets: Double Points: K and Motel, which will be stopping off at Swindon's Town Hall Studios in Regent Circus.

The score for Double Points: K was composed by Julian Guilamat and is a mix of dub step, electro beat and the Bach Concerto in A Minor.

The second dance piece, Motel, in inspired by the Room paintings of Huntley Muir.

"Motel explores illicit affairs, secret relationships and evokes deep and sensuous emotions,'' said Rosie. "It is a dark and sexy duet.''
