JASON Byrne likes his props. So much so that, after a lauded test-run, he’s back with more silly giant inflatable ducks, rubber hands, owls, big wooden pegs, other baffling contraptions and heaps of audience participation - he needs willing victims to play around in/with them - in Propped Up.

“On my last tour, I brought back prop comedy and the audiences couldn’t stop laughing,” says Jason. “So I thought, why not create an entire show full of props? It’s going to be very silly and absolutely trouser wettingly funny.”

It’s been a busy few years for Jason. On top of touring, his Radio 2 show was awarded the UK Radio industry’s Sony Radio Gold Award. He recently hosted a new studio based comedy chat show, Jason Byrne’s Snaptastic Show for TV3 in Ireland and is co-presenter of a new wildlife-themed entertainment programme ‘Wild Things’ on Sky 1. He also clocked in a milestone two decades on the stand-up circuit last year.

His very own brand of organised chaos and near legendary stock-in-trade audience participation has seen him coined “the outright king of live comedy”.

His TV credits are endless: a memorable performance at the 2013 Royal Variety Performance, The Graham Norton Show, Live at the Apollo, his own show Anonymous in Ireland and BBC 1’s John Bishop Christmas Show in 2014. He appears at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival every year and is occasionally confused for Ed Byrne. Jason Byrne will be at the Wyvern Theatre on Saturday at 8pm. Tickets are £20.25.
