AFTER January’s dark thriller from Spain, the Swindon Film Society starts February with Our Little Sister, an irresistible sunlight-filled family drama from Japanese writer-director Hirokazu Kore-eda. It’s showing at the Arts Centre on Wednesday at 7.45pm.

The film follows three sisters, now grown up, as they meet and take in a younger half-sister after their father’s death. Living with the complications and conflicts of modern family life, these young women show dignity and kindness towards 13-year-old Suzu, as their family faces a new future.

There are more world cinema screenings in store for Swindon film lovers during February: from India The Crow’s Egg at the Arts Centre on February 8, and on February 22 the Phoenix Theatre at New College is screening UK director Ken Loach’s I, Daniel Blake. Swindon Film Society welcomes all members and guests to these events.

Meanwhile Wroughton’s own film club is showing Ethel and Ernest, a UK animation film based on the parents of writer/illustrator Raymond Briggs at the Ellendune Centre on February 21.
