Facing each other across the stage in a mighty dance off clash will be the Morris Men and the Cornish Cloggers.

Each year Swindon's well loved close harmony group, Ten In A Bar, come up with some new and quirky comedy to add to their musical show, and this year is no different.

Director Jill Hodge said: "The dance off sequence is set to the music of early 20th century composers, with a backdrop of a pastoral scene in a quintessentially English village.''

In Your Element comes to Swindon's Arts Centre, Devizes Road, in Old Town from Wednesday, February 15 to Saturday, February 18.

The group featuring Sue Hills, Alison Canning, Tracy Cuthbert, Liz Hancock, Jane Kingstone, Helen Asprey, Carol Jeffcut, Steve Brain, Paul Skidmore, Martin Read, Peter Kent, Kevin O’Grady and Jill have been rehearsing since September.

The singers have chosen musical works that reflect the four elements and they use mixed media and screen projections to add impact to the songs.

"We also rather liked the play on words in the title 'In Your Element' meaning we are absolutely loving it - the music that is,'' said Jill.

There are numbers from the pen of Peter Gabriel, Bacharach, Morten Lauridsen, Pentatonix and Carly Simon.

In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel in 12 parts mean't Jill recruited some help from Heather Reynolds, Ellen Travers-Gaisford and Diane Blackwell.

Ten In A Bar are accompanied by a live band consisting of Kirstie Smith on piano, Andy Griffiths on drums and James Agg on bass.

Jill said: "We have a beautiful new arrangement of Rufus Wainwright’s Sonnet 20 by Shakespeare for five part men. It is stunning and was arranged by our resident pianist Kirstie Smith.''

The singers had fun filming their mixed media pieces at Barbury Castle and Coate Water Park on a wintry day.

Jill said: "Walkers at Barbury decided to come to see the show on the basis of our film shoot, I hope they are not expecting Bear Grylls?''

Ten in a Bar started with eight singers, a director and accompanist – hence the name Ten in a Bar! In recent years the group has grown to 16 singers with an age range from 17 years upwards.
