Feature films Atonement, Truly, Madly, Deeply and Hilary and Jackie all feature the haunting sounds of a solo cello played by Caroline Dale.

On Saturday, March 11 Caroline will be coming to Swindon to perform with her sister, violinist Miranda Dale and concert pianist Paul Turner, in the grand finale of this year's Swindon Recital Series.

Caroline won the string section of BBC's Young Musician of the Year, and last time she was in town wowed the audience with her rendition of Deep Purple's classic rock anthem Smoke On The Water.

She was a member of the Nigel Kennedy Quartet and is principal cellist of the English Chamber Orchestra. She has also performed as concerto soloist with the London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

The musicians will perform as The Dale Trio at the Arts Centre, Devizes Road, Old Town for a concert that includes Schubert, Brahms and a Latin influenced finale.

Julia Singleton from the recital series said: "The recital ends with Piazzolla’s Four Seasons, passionate, dark, romantic and imbued with the spirit of the tango. This is quintessential Piazzolla, reflecting the life and soul of his native Buenos Aires and a fitting finale to our jazz-influenced season.''

Paul set up the recital series 23 years ago with the aim of bringing quality classical music to his home town for everyone to enjoy.

Tickets are £15, £12.50 for seniors, £2.50 for students and accompanied children under 14 free from 01793 524481 or visit www.swindonrecitalseries.org - Flicky Harrison
