MORE than 60 famous faces are coming to town for the second Swindon Film and Comic-Con at the Steam museum on June 3 and 4.

Celebrities from Red Dwarf, Doctor Who, Star Wars and Primeval will visit the town to sign autographs and meet fans.

It’s not just for sci-fi geeks either - stars from 'Allo 'Allo, George and Mildred, EastEnders, Gladiators, and The Chase will also be appearing at the event.

The convention is the brainchild of Skywalkers' owner Luke Kaye, who promises a few major surprises are in store.

He said: “It’s been a year in the planning and there are still a few big appearances I can’t even mention yet. It’s a mind-blowing, incredible event, there’s something for everyone and it’s a nice family day out.”

Sixty-seven celebrities will be at the convention, including Chris Barrie and Robert Llewellyn from Red Dwarf with the show’s creator Doug Naylor, Doctor Who star Sylvester McCoy, Richard Gibson and Kim Hartman from 'Allo 'Allo, Game of Thrones’ Sean Blowers, and Christopher Biggins and Martin Roberts from I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.

Luke revealed an extra-special exclusive for this year’s convention.

“We’ve flown in four wrestling superstars from the WWF days to meet everybody, they’ll only be in Swindon, and there’ll be a chance for 200 people to have a meal with Tugboat, Marty Jannetty, Bushwacker Luke and Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake at the Marriott on June 1,” he said.

Visitors can get their picture taken with hundreds of props from film and TV, including Daleks, Star Wars droids, the lightcycle from TRON, The Simpsons’ sofa, and a 35-foot tall marshmallow man from Ghostbusters. There’ll also be several comic book artists, talks and stalls.

Saturday will conclude with an aftershow party at the Grange Drive Sports Centre where guests will get the chance to mingle with some of the stars.

Luke added: “I’d say it’s the best thing to ever hit Swindon, but it’s a lot of effort and it’s cost a fortune, so I hope people get behind it and support it.

“Last year was the first one and it was a big gamble, but it was outstanding, more than 3,000 people turned up and everyone loved it.

“If this year’s is even more successful, we will attract even bigger stars, but if it doesn’t work out, it might not return next year.”
