Comedian Mike Gunn is stepping in to the breach when the All Star Stand-up Tour comes to Swindon following a near fatal car crash involving Jim Tavare.

Jim was severely injured during the crash in his home town of Los Angeles and spent 15 days in intensive care, but he is finally on the mend and is proposing to join next year's tour.

Jim said: “My hand ligaments completely detached from my wrist. The surgeons that put it back together say that I won’t ever be able to play the bass again, but I am determined to prove them wrong. I look forward to seeing you all for the 2018 tour!”

Mike Gunn is best known for his TV appearances on the BBC 1 Michael McIntyre Comedy Roadshow and says he is delighted to join the All-Star tour.

"I can't wait to get on the road with the rest of the team,'' he said.

The comic has toured with Lee Mack and says he prefers intimate clubs to the big arenas - that is until he is offered a big arena tour! The comedian leaves his funny side at the door when he gets home, preferring to put his feet up and watch Water Colour Challenge.

"I save my comedy gold for the stage alone where I can emerge like a Red Admiral butterfly from a chrysalis and feel truly alive,'' he said.

When he comes to Swindon's Wyvern Theatre on Tuesday, May 9 at 7.30pm, he will be joined on stage by Stewart Francis, Justin Moorhouse and MC Jarred Christmas.

The four performers will performing as an ensemble, riffing and improvising together, but Mike says Swindon hecklers should be warned as he takes no prisoners.

“After a barrage of witty put downs I invite them to come home with me and watch a box set of Water Colour Challenge with my Aunty Else. They never do it again.”

Stewart Francis has appeared on Mock The Week, Live At The Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Children in Need episode of Mastermind.

Justin Moorhouse was the celebrity Mastermind winner in 2012 and makes a welcome return to Swindon. He is best known for his work in Phoenix Nights, alongside Peter Kay and on Live At The Apollo.

Jarred Christmas has appeared on shows such as Mock The Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, 8 out of 10 Cats and Argumental.

Tickets to see the comedians in Swindon are £23.50 and available from 01793 524481 or www.swindontheatres.co.uk.
