Girl power reigns supreme as the curtain rises on a comedy triple bill, in Swindon.

The Baroque Theatre Company, led by founder and actress Claire Bibby, will be paying tribute to such comedy classics as Fawlty Towers and The Vicar of Dibley in a comic fest that features two plays by David Tristram, Last Tango In Little Grimley and Last Panto In Little Grimley. Sandwiched neatly in between is the pastiche, 1920s thriller by Elliot Strange entitled A Jolly Sinister Jape.

Claire said: “We’re so looking forward to taking these hilarious plays to some really exciting venues. I’m particularly excited this year that the playwright David Tristram has given permission for Adam Morley, our Artistic Director, to adapt the dialogue for the all female cast.”

Appearing alongside Claire in the plays are Patricia Derrick, Talitha Willsea and Sally Blouet.

The first comedy is based around a local amateur dramatics group who plan to sex up their play to draw in more crowds. The second comedy is Famous Five for adults with lashings of thrills instead of ginger beer.

The finale is a sequel to Last Tango in Little Grimley, featuring the same characters, this time they are tackling a panto.

Adrian said: I’m especially honoured to revive this hugely successful Comedy Triple Bill, bringing to the stage a show in the mould of a classic British Sitcom and a homage to the greats of UK comedy.''

Comedy Triple Bill comes to Swindon's Arts Centre, Devizes Road, Old Town, on Wednesday June 7 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £14.50 from 01793 524481 or visit www.swindontheatres.co.uk - Flicky Harrison
