THE search is on for a doggie star to perform in Legally Blonde, SALOS’ new production based on the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoom.

The feel-good musical is this year’s SALOS show and rehearsals are already under way at the Lawn Manor Academy.

Legally Blonde will be performed at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre from Wednesday, October 18 to Sunday, October 22.

The doggie star will be taking the part of Bruiser, Elle’s faithfully companion, who was played in the film by a chihuahua called Moonie.

Russell Langdown is the director who will be guiding the cast with help from associate director Sandra Gilbert.

Legally Blonde is about a sorority queen who signs up for law school in a bid to win back her boyfriend.

The show includes musical numbers such as Positive, Take It Like A Man, What You Want, and Bend And Snap, all accompanied by a live band led by Malcolm Webb, the SALOS musical director.

The very first SALOS production in 1952 was The Arcadians.

Since then the company has become an integral part of the Swindon music scene, performing such classics as South Pacific, Oklahoma, Brigadoon and more poppy shows such as Sister Act, and Jesus Christ Superstar along with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and last year’s Wizard of Oz.
