Heave ho, me hearties! To mark International Talk Like A Pirate Day, Swindon’s Gilbert and Sullivan Society are inviting new members to join the chorus of Pirates of Penzance, their next production.
Julia Fryer from the society said: “Why only talk like a pirate on September 19 when with Swindon Gilbert and Sullivan Society you can talk like a pirate every Tuesday, until the performance in April.’’
The Pirates of Penzance is one of the most popular comedy operettas and will be performed by the Swindon company at the Wyvern Theatre next spring.
The company are seeking singers for the chorus and there are no auditions. Rehearsals are every Tuesday at the Wroughton Workingmen’s Club Devizes Road, Wroughton from 7.30pm between September and June. Society Membership fees (paid annually) are £70 per person, £60 each for a couple, £35 for students.
