WITCHCRAFT seems an entirely appropriate topic for the Halloween debut of a powerful new play by the Wrong Shoes Theatre Company – called The Unbinding.

Devised from historical accounts of witches from Wiltshire and further afield, the play explores mob mentality, and the drive to punish those who are different.

It is set deep in the bowels of a small town church, where four deviant women await their fate, having been accused of witchcraft.

The play runs at Swindon’s Shoebox Theatre from October 31 to November 4 and performances begin at 8pm. Tickets are £10 from shoeboxtheatre.org.uk.

  • SAXOPHONIST Hayley Lambert, star of the Wigmore Hall and BBC Radio 3, will be join pianist Paul Turner for the next in the Lunchtime Recital Series on Wednesday.

The programme features the Hot Sonate by Schulhoff, Carmichael’s Aria and Finale, and JS Bach’s Sonata in G Minor. The concert takes place at 1.05pm in the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon and tickets cost £6.

  • COMEDIAN Nick Helm will be delivering some home truths about life and love in his snappily titled show There is Nothing You Can Do To Me That I Haven’t Already Done To Myself – at the Swindon Arts Centre on Saturday.

  • INTERNATIONAL George Michael tribute act Wayne Dilks will bring his show Faith to Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre tomorrow.

Faith: The George Michael Legacy celebrates one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time, with a journey through 35 years of hit records. It begins at 7.30pm. Tickets are £24.50. www.swindontheatres.co.uk

  • COMEDIAN Rob Newman will premier some brand new and controversial material, inspired by his recent award-winning Radio 4 show Neuropolis, on Sunday.

  • A NOSTALGIC return to the 1940s, Songs that Won the War will feature tunes by the Andrews Sisters, Vera Lynn, Gracie Fields and many others.

  • STORAGE Hunters star Sean Kelly will be joined by T-Money and Green Mile for a show at the Wyvern Theatre tonight.
