Three young Swindon dancers scooped an armful of trophies at the Wiltshire Street Dance Championships earlier this month.

Around 450 dancers performed to an audience of more than 1,000 in the championships, organised by the United Dance Organisation, at the Oasis in Swindon's North Star.

Troy Douglas, Joshua Phillips and Phebe Giles from Swindon's 2Step Dance Academy, run by Kayla Rejek, won awards in their solo categories and will now go forward to compete in the prestigious UDO European Championships in Germany and the World Championships 2018 in Glasgow.

Kayla said: "It was a great atmosphere. The judges were very engaging with the students and the whole day ran really smoothly. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the day and left feeling inspired and very happy!”

The dancers were put under the spotlight by a judging panel of professional dancers including Big Kris from the dance crew Flawless who were runners-up in the 2009 Britain's Got Talent.

The dancers showcased their breakdancing, popping, locking and waacking skills in various dance categories.

Kayla started dancing at the age of four, training in tap, freestyle, ballet, jazz, performing arts and of course hip-hop and street dance. She studied at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London and went on to appear at Sadlers Wells, Her Majesty's Theatre and the Royal Albert Hall along with seasons in Disneyland California and Disneyland Paris. She was also a Hammerette for West Ham football team.

Kayla became a dance teacher with Camp America in 2013 coaching and choreographing students from seven to 15 years-old.

The following year she set up 2Step Dance Academy in Swindon and her teachers include Swindon's own Banxy who takes the intermediate street dance class. Banxy has appeared on many television shows and music videos including George Michael's Spinning Wheel.

Phebe came second in the under eights beginners category, Troy came first in the under 14s solo class and Joshua came second in the under 14s beginners.
