Showcasing Neil LaBute’s flair for the dark and sinister, his play Autobahn places ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances - all within the confined setting of a car.

From breakups to kidnappings, as well as an escape from rehab, the situation is transformed again and again but the setting remains the same - showing just how significant a short car ride can be.

American playwright and film director LaBute says: “Hidden in the back seat of a sedan, I quickly realised how deep the chasm or intense the claustrophobia could be inside your average family car” - and in this original and thought-provoking adaptation, by theatre company the Scullions Neoterics, you will be taken on a heartbreaking, hilarious and exhilarating journey.

Autobahn, written in 2003, invites you to take a peek into the lives of ten different people, individuals that stretch the width and breadth of British culture.

Everyone has something to say, the play asks, but what is not being said? Now The Scullions Neoterics invite you to ask these questions in this original and immersive production.

Labute, famous for his 1997 film In the Company of Men, had a stellar cast including Susan Sarandon and Philip Seymour Hoffman in the premier of Autobahn.

This performance takes place at Swindon’s Shoebox Theatre in Theatre Square on Saturday and Sunday night, at 7pm, and is suitable for age 14+. Tickets are £10 from www.shoeboxtheatre.org.uk.
