Pragmatic Insanity is the title of comedian Robin Ince’s first new stand-up show in three years.

Taking place at the Swindon Art Centre tonight, the show is described as a joyous romp, in which he discusses his favourite artists and strangest scientific ideas. From the work of Stanley Spencer to Niels Bohr, it is an hour and a half fizzing with ideas about creativity in science and art, as well as asking why we believe we see what we see, and why we believe what we believe.

Robin is perhaps best known for his Radio 4 show The Infinite Monkey Cage, which he presents with physicist Brian Cox.

Last year he completed a 70 date, record-breaking tour with Brian Cox that concluded at the Wembley Arena.

He also has a new book, called I’m a Joke…and So Are You, billed a comedian’s take on what makes us human. Robin is the winner of a Sony Gold and Rose d’Or for the Infinite Monkey Cage and the Time Out Outstanding Contribution to Comedy, as well as The Francis Crick Science Journalism Award and a handful of Chortle awards.

The show, which begins at 8pm, is suitable for people aged 14 plus, and tickets are £17.50. To book, call 01793 524481 or visit swindontheatres.co.uk.
