  • The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is calling in at the Wyvern Theatre on Saturday, with a concert called From the New World.

The programme features Rossini’s Semiramide Overture, the Violin Concerto No 1 by Bruch and Dvorak’s Symphony No 9 From the New World.’The conductor is Gianluca Marciano with Sonoko Miriam Welde on violin. Tickets for the concert, which begins at 7.30pm, are £32-£35, with limited availability tickets for under 16s and students costing £12. www.swindontheatres.co.uk

  • Strictly Come Dancing’s Pasha Kovalev brings the Magic of Hollywood to Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre tomorrow night at 7.30pm. His brand new show features Anya Garins, and promises sequins, glitz and glamour, when Pasha takes to the stage with his sensational dancers and they perform a programme with a Hollywood theme.

  • World War One drama The Accrington Pals by Peter Whelan is running at the Swindon Arts Centre every night till Saturday. Presented by the Phoenix Players to commemorate the end of the Great War, the play is set in the mill town of Accrington, which sent its own battalion to war. It shows events at home and in the trenches, and it by turns sad, funny, romantic and realistic. The play explores the role of women, social class, and the tragedy of war.

The play begins at 7.30pm each night, and tickets cost £11, concessions £10. www.swindontheatres.co.uk

  • Festival compere Ben Van der Velde heads up an evening of mirth at The Place in the Wyvern Theatre on Friday at 8pm. He will be joined by Amy Howerska and Tony Cowards, the man with an arsenal of one-liners. Tickets are £12. www.swindontheatres.co.uk

  • Memory Cinema invites people living with dementia and a friend, family member or carer to enjoy a nostalgic film in the relaxed surroundings of Swindon Arts Centre on Monday at 2pm. This month, the film is family favourite The Sound of Music. The screening is designed to make those living with dementia feel comfortable and safe, with low house lights, the option to sing, talk or dance through the film, an interval with free refreshments, and friendly ushers on hand to help. The event is free, though you do need to book a ticket. www.swindontheatres.co.uk

  • Three performances showcasing and celebrating the talents of Swindon Dance’s young dancers will take place at the venue in Regent Circus on Saturday at 6pm and 8pm. Tickets are £8-£10. To book, call 01793 601700.
