EVENTS over at the Arts Centre were dramatic to say the least as the Harold Jolliffe 2010 One Act Play Festival took place.
Young and old took to the stage from February 11 to 13 to show off their talents and be in with a chance of winning a prize.
This year’s winning group was the Old Town Theatre Company for their performance of Invitation to a Party, by Bridget Derrett.
The group now go on to the next round of the All England Play Festival.
The awards, which were presented last Saturday, range from prizes for the best actors to most original production.
The winners were Pewsey Vale Amateur Dramatic Youth Section, Whole Hog Productions, Clarendon Players, Rosie Riley, Megan Mills, John Lavis, Brenda Woodward, Ryan Gilks and Nettie Powell. Festival director Ashley Heath said it had been a fantastic event, adding: “What an event we had this year. Twelve plays in three days, including an unprecedented four plays on the Saturday afternoon.
“Once again, our actors, directors and crews proved to everyone that amateur theatre in Swindon and Wiltshire is all about standards that would test the professionals.”
