A SWINDON-born actor appearing at Wanborough’s White Horse Festival on Saturday has won a place at the Bristol Old Vic.

Chris Mackay, 21, (pictured) beat off stiff competition from all over the country to get one of only 14 places at the drama school from October.

This weekend, he will be performing with dozens of other top dancers, singers and bands at the all day festival, who will be raising money for mental health charities in the area.

Top blues man Bob Bowles will be playing with the world famous drummer, Ken Pustelnik, from British blues band the Groundogs.

Ken often backed American blues all-time greats John Lee Hooker, Howling Wolf, Little Walter and Billy Boy Arnold when they toured the UK in the Sixties and Seventies.

Now he will be laying down the cool rhythms for Bob, who will also be joined by Jon Buckett on bass.

The Mill, with Teddy White and Anish, will also be performing their Woodstock set.

Tickets to the event, which is being held at Stanwell House, in the High Street from 3pm, cost £10 for adults or £5 for children (aged five to 15). Under fives go free.
