As always, my Christmas started with the Kentwood Christmas Cracker.
Sparkling Christmas trees, fairy lights and audience participation are the things that get me in the mood. Throw in the marvellous Kentwood Show Choir, under director Sheila Harrod, and the effervescent Aldbourne Band, with their charismatic band leader, and you have a recipe for a splendid evening of entertainment.
Two packed houses enjoyed mince pies (supplied by Tesco) and mulled wine during each interval.
Excellent singing from the choir included everything from carols to a wonderful a capella number. The youth choir and kiddies got top billing this year, and a jolly good time was had by all.
Special guest Cleo Laine enjoyed the first show and radio presenter Graham Mack arrived on stage to sing with the two bands and choir. He did a pretty good job too.
All in all the sounds coming from the stage, no matter who was playing or singing, were a joy to behold and the audience left happy.
Sheila and her choir have raised a great deal of money for charities over the years, and this event is bound to add more to the coffers.
Well done to Sheila and Kentwood on another joyful occasion. – Ros Hollands
