SWINDON musical talent has the chance to shine next week as the annual Swindon Shuffle gets underway.
The event runs at three different venues around the town from next Thursday until Sunday, August 15 and will feature performances from some of the best known bands in town as well as those who are just starting out.
Among the bands taking part in the four-day music extravaganza are Napoleon In Rags, The Dacoits, Billyjon, The Alfonz, Matthew Kilford, Buswell & Strings, The Costellos, Old School Tie and many more.
In total 53 acts will be taking to the stage during the event.
The festival started in 2006 with the aim of providing Swindon with a weekend of music that the town’s musicians and music fans deserved and last year it was the biggest unsigned music festival in the UK.
The organisers say they decided to scale back this year’s event to put the focus back on the local aspects and to revisit the ‘underground’ nature of the festival which was popular with attendees.
The venues taking part this year are The Victoria in Old Town, The 12 Bar in Wescott Place and The Beehive in Prospect Hill.
All of the door takings from the event will be donated to the Goldenhar Family Support Group and Heart FM’s Have A Heart appeal.
