EVERY second counts for Christian Roberts this season as he bids to help turn Town from dark horses into League One contenders, writes ANDY CRYER.

Town's Welshman has been enjoying a new lease of life in Wiltshire, since being converted into a midfielder late last season, but is determined to let his feet do all the talking.

With four points from two games on their return to League One, Town are sitting pretty in fourth spot and as far as Roberts is concerned the County Ground set-up will ensure it is no false dawn.

Swindon travel to Cheltenham tomorrow, expected to win after Saturday's victory over Luton, but Roberts insists no-one can waste a minute in their push for the top.

He said: "We have had a good couple of days, a good couple of results and I suppose you could say we have had a good start .

"The lads are on top form at the moment. We are training well.

"We are playing well and everything is fantastic with us at the moment.

"In this day and age you have to approach every game the same because if you don't you will get found out.

"We went to Stockport last season when we were doing well but didn't turn up on the day and got thumped.

"This day and age every game is important, every training session is important. Every minute and every second counts.

"We came in training Sunday and Monday and we were not at it and they let us know early doors."

Saturday's win over Luton will ensure no team takes Town for granted but Roberts insists his teammates will be up for the challenge.

He said: "We want teams to believe we are a force. There is no reason we can't. There is not a team in this division we have any reason to fear.

"Not being funny but we played against Charlton the other night and we outplayed them for 45 minutes.

"With due respect we totally outplayed them, we didn't get a goal as we were still trying to spark something up front.

"But the boys have been playing well up there, don't get me wrong.

"I know the pressure there is on you to perform up there. Peacock broke his duck on Saturday and now I'm hoping Blair comes to the fore.

"I can't see why we cant compete in this division."

Paul Sturrock's search for new blood continues, with strikers top of his wish-list, but Roberts assures fans they are not far away.

He said: "We have high standards at the club and we are looking very well.

"With the takeover the club has been put on a good platform and hopefully we can kick on from there.

"I don't want to sound like a boring old footballer but I really believe if we keep our noses clean this year we could do okay.

"We have some great players, brought some decent, decent players in.

"We are still looking for players and have good players like Barry and Ady still to come back in from injury.

"Things are going well and if it's not broke don't try to fix it. I have said it before but I believe in the silent one this year.

"If we keep doing the job then there will be no problem."
