Retired residents at Dove Court, a development of retirement flats, have invited their favourite comedian and presenter to perform the opening ceremony.

Don Maclean, who has presented Radio 2's Good Morning Sunday programme for 15 years, will be at McCarthy and Stone's Dove Court retirement development in Swan Lake, Faringdon, on Friday, April 28 at noon.

He will entertain residents before cutting a ribbon at 12.40pm to declare the development officially open.

Afterwards, he will join the residents and guests for lunch and draw a raffle.

James Poxon, the regional managing director of McCarthy and Stone, said: "The residents at Dove Court are terribly excited to be meeting Don Maclean.

"Many of them have listened to his programme over the years and his special brand of humour is sure to go down a treat.

"We are looking forward to the ceremony and we are confident that a good time will be had by all."

Dove Court is a development of 54 retirement flats away from the main road, for older people who wish to remain independent.

One-bedroom apartments at Dove Court range in price from £179,950 to £229,950 and two-bedrooms from £217,450 to £249,950.
